This film is also about a love so strong that it bonds two people together spiritually. “The Florist” captures a tender moment in time between two lovers and the people who, for better or worse, orbit their lives and affect their fragile destinies. A group of junkies lure a young homeless woman to a crumbling abandoned tenement during a hundred year storm, where they murder her for kicks, inadvertently awaking an ancient African deity; a shapeshifter who escaped from Hell back into this world.
SIMPLE DESCRIPTION
Like Clive Barker’s HELLRAISER, the exploits of creatures who can return from hell through a puzzle box, Ursula is a contained HORROR FILM that hints at a much grander mythology, which will be revealed in subsequent sequels. This storyline delves into the ancient kingdoms of Africa, Voodoo, the Moors, Hell and the clandestine role of fallen angels in mankind’s destiny. In the same vein as horror film IT FOLLOWS, a story about a stalking demon who is passed from one person to another through sex, Ursula is a shapeshifting creature who moves from skin to skin. Since you never know who Ursula is, there is a lingering feeling of dread, paranoia and full-blown fear permeating the movie. Like the preternatural being in producer Jordan Peele’s upcoming CANDYMAN reboot, Ursula Abaddon has existed down through the ages; becoming one very scary Urban Legend along the way.
